Bands are marginal — you pay each band's rate only for the calls that fall in it. Every call — REST, MCP, or CLI — counts once. Very high volume (the 30M+ class) runs on an enterprise agreement, not a bill.

No surprise bills — you're always in control.

The whole billing model is built so a bill can never get away from you. Four guarantees, on by default.

Prepaid, never invoiced after the fact

You load a balance up front and usage draws it down. There is no month-end bill to be surprised by — you can only spend what you've loaded.

A spend cap on every account

Each usage tier carries a monthly spend cap enforced at the gateway. A runaway integration stops at its ceiling instead of running an unbounded bill.

Alerts before you run dry

We notify you as your balance draws down and top up automatically only if you turn on auto-recharge — otherwise the key simply pauses, reversibly, until you add credits.

One rate, transparent bands

The same per-call rate applies at every tier. Marginal bands mean each rate touches only the calls inside it, and every response carries a rate-limit header.

In production todayVerified, deduplicated credits attributed to real people — served live from the graph, one request at a time, every response traceable to the key that made it.

Estimate your monthly credits

Pay only for the calls you make. Your first $5 is on us.

Estimate only — usage draws down your prepaid balance against the marginal bands (each band's rate applies to the calls inside it). Your card is charged only when you load credits, never on a month-end invoice.

Throughput scales with you

You move up two ways: automatically as your usage grows, or instantly by buying a plan — $500/mo for Build, $3,000/mo for Scale. No sales call. Plan money counts toward usage — you only pay the difference.

throughput on your terms

Above Scale — request higher limits, self-service.

Throughput and monthly caps live in Limits — manage your tier and upgrade instantly from there. Rate-limit headers on every response show your remaining budget. Numbers are starting defaults.

Everyone starts the same
no sales calls

Add a card, tell us what you're building, and you're live — no forms queued for a sales team. Rate limits start modest and grow with your account's age and usage history.

We review use cases to protect the data and our customers — the graph is the product, and every response is traceable to the key that fetched it.

Platform Analytics
Rolling out

Analytics across the whole graph — aggregate trends and catalog-wide queries, beyond the per-entity charts already in the metered API. Not live yet. At launch it's self-service and metered per call, with a monthly minimum that counts toward what you use. The minimum also includes the Scale plan — one payment covers both — so your account runs at Scale throughput automatically.

$3,000/mo planned minimum · counts toward usage · includes Scale

Real-time streaming analytics follows on the roadmap at a planned $10,000/mo.

Beyond the metered catalog API — no per-call bill.

Add “Login with Muso” to your app and your users sign in with their own Muso account. They see, live, exactly the data their membership allows — credits on Lite, credits + analytics on Pro — consented by the user, scoped to their own data. It’s the free on-ramp for your users, distinct from the paid catalog API.

Workspace API
Included

Already on Muso Pro or Business? Your roster’s credits & stats are free through the read-only Workspace API key — scoped to your own artists, no metering, no extra bill. It's created in the Muso app (Settings → API Key) and auto-disabled if the subscription ends. This is separate from the platform's pay-as-you-go catalog key.

Want more artists? Add profiles to your Muso subscription (Settings → Profiles in the Muso app) — the same key reads them instantly. Not an API upgrade. Learn more →

Questions

Is there a free tier?

No standalone free tier. Every new account starts with $5 in credits and a card on file — your first $5 of usage is free, then usage draws down the credits you load — your card is charged only when you top up. And if you're a paying Muso subscriber (Pro or Business), your own data is included at no charge: every profile in your roster is accessible through your Workspace API key — no metering, no extra bill.

Do I need a credit card to start?

Yes. A card is required to load credits and activate an API key — it keeps the platform free of abuse. Your $5 welcome credit covers your first usage before anything is charged.

How am I billed?

Prepaid credits. You load a balance (from $10), and usage draws it down at marginal bands: $0.025/call for your first 100K calls, $0.02 to 300K, and $0.015 beyond — each band's rate applies only to the calls inside it. Your card is charged only when you load credits (optionally automatic via auto-recharge). Your $5 welcome credit is drawn down first, and you can never spend more than you've loaded.

How do rate limits and tiers work?

You start on Start (pay per call at the marginal bands) and move up two ways: automatically as your usage and billing history grow, or buy a plan from the Limits page — $500/mo for Build, $3,000/mo for Scale — to unlock more requests per second right now, no sales call. Plans sell the $0.020 rate from your first call, and plan money counts toward usage — you only pay the difference. Above Scale, request higher limits self-service.

What analytics can I get today, and what's coming?

Today, the metered API serves per-entity analytics: the /v1/profile/{id}/charts endpoint returns chart positions, scores, and popularity for a given profile. Platform Analytics — aggregate trends and catalog-wide queries across the whole graph — is rolling out, not live yet. At launch it's self-service and metered per call, with a $3,000/mo minimum that counts toward what you use. The minimum includes the Scale plan — one payment covers both — so your account runs at Scale throughput automatically. Real-time streaming analytics follows at a planned $10,000/mo.

What is Login with Muso?

A way for your users to sign in with their Muso account and see, live, the data their own membership allows — credits on Lite, credits + analytics on Pro. It's user-consented, scoped to their own data, and billed as a flat $99/mo per app — never metered.

What counts as a call?

Every request to the API — whether over REST, the MCP server, or the CLI — counts once at your current graduated per-call rate.

Can I store or resell the data?

Standard plans are a live license — you query at the moment of use and don't cache or store responses, and resale or redistribution is never allowed. Enterprise agreements are different: they include a term-limited storage license, so you can cache and store licensed data locally for the life of the agreement, with certified deletion when it ends. (Login with Muso is different again: a user viewing their own entitled data.)
